‘If you can smell the street by looking at the photo, it’s a street photograph.’
-Bruce Gilden-
By exploring urban environments I gradually rolled in shooting street.
In my opinion you can separate street photography into two categories. You have on the one hand candid photography, which is a sort of documentary type of photographing, taken in the moment, without people noticing I stand there taking a photo. These go mostly well in black and white and show the street, the people and the environment like they truly are.
Then you have on the other hand the more artistic way of photographing streets, playing with depth of field, taking in consideration the aesthetics, composition and available light. These shots are taken with premeditation of the editing process
Either way I love both as you’ll see in the next gallery!
